About Hamari “Cho-Cho”
Hamari Traoré, is immediately noticed by the passion with which he invests himself. His commitment and unceasing activity, both in training and in matches….
During his training, he was the one who served as a gauge to validate the times imposed on the various dynamic technical mastery exercises. To the point of irritating his classmates quite often, who generally struggled to succeed in the same exercises within the initially imposed time limits.
Instinctive and spontaneous, he is always guided by the desire to succeed in what he does, no matter how difficult it may be… An obvious quality, this almost excessive commitment has earned him the nickname “Cho-cho” since his early childhood…
But he will also play tricks when he still had to ruminate about his “failures” even when he had to forget, pull himself together and move on to something else, or start over… But this constant commitment to success will make him a natural positive leader for others.
Today, as a professional and international Malian, he is one of the most listened to by all his “brothers”, a kind of wise man.
During his first year of training at the JMG Mali Academy in Bamako, one of his coaches, to make him understand that this ability to dominate himself could be precious later on, made a bet with him. Indeed, while mobile phones were still a rare commodity, the educator promised him his own Panasonic mobile phone with camera, if until the end of the week, Hamari managed to control himself, whatever the situation!
Highly motivated by the stakes, Hamari accepts without hesitation, as usual, convinced to succeed, even at the cost of sacrifices on his person!
From Monday to Friday 4pm, everything goes well: Hamari surprises comrades and educators: temperate and never with the slightest gesture, the slightest word, the slightest mood too much, he is another person!
But, we can see how he clenches his teeth at times to contain himself… Or the moments of solitude that it imposes itself from time to time when the natural wants to regain the upper hand under the “premeditated provocations” of others. A real ordeal apparently.
But, there is a phone at this price, it is worth it…. Until, with about 30 minutes to go before the end of Friday’s training! During the close-range workshop, (where the goal shot is sought, following openings on an opening dribbling, combination or oriented control); everything goes well, until the champion team begins to emerge gradually.
But, an arbitration decision is coming, which does not go in the direction of what “Cho-Cho” thinks, who is almost champion at that time, without this decision! That’s too much injustice! Hamari let loose, kicked the ball away and whispered all his disapproval, deaf to the worried attempts of all his friends, partners and opponents of the day.
All of them had just realized, seeing him walk away like that and ruminating and pestering like we had not seen him do all week, that his almost acquired phone was also moving away from him in the other direction!
Hamari realizes in a furtive moment of lucidity, a few seconds late, the situation.
He turns around and in front of the compassionate but sorry looks turned towards him, realizes the catastrophic situation: he had just lost in a few seconds, the phone however almost acquired after hard moments of struggle and inner suffering!!!
His attempts to negotiate in an attempt to minimize this week’s “very first and only moment of weakness” (these are his words) will not change that.
He still had a long way to go to control his emotions and nerves, especially… Certainly, it helped him to understand that to be a champion and achieve his goals, he needed better control… He certainly understood that for a competitor, not going out of his objectives and being able to stay focused until the end was essential to win. That knowing how to accept defeat, when you had given everything, could already be another form of victory…
This seems to be the case today, the young man would probably take up the same challenge today without too much difficulty… Because he has matured well and succeeded, after years of practice, in dominating his impulsiveness, even positive… To always keep a little lucidity, until the objective is reached, and thus give yourself more chances of success, given its great potential.
