Gervinho continues his journey. The Ivorian international striker leaves Trabzonspor for Aris Salonika, third in the last championship and qualified for the second preliminary round of the Europa League.
The academician arrives in Greece without a transfer fee after a season marked by injuries at Trabzonspor.
Ivorian international Gervinho has signed a two-year contract with Aris Salonika, the Thessaloniki club announced on Saturday. Trabzonspor won the Turkish league title last season, but it was without Gervinho that most of the celebrations took place. Indeed, the 35-year-old winger suffered a cruciate ligament rupture at the end of October 2021 and therefore only took part in 13 games (2 goals scored). The Ivorian international is no longer part of his club’s plans and has decided to move to another country.
In Greece, Gervinho will discover a fifth European championship after a debut in Belgium, a remarkable four-year stint in Ligue 1 where he contributed to LOSC’s league and cup double in 2011, a transfer to Arsenal and almost six seasons spent in Italy, between Rome and Parma. The Ivorian’s career also saw a diversion of three seasons in China between 2016 and 2018. With the Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire, he won the African Cup of Nations in 2015.
After Belgium, France, England, Italy, China and Turkey, this will be the 7th championship of his career.
