Lyon defender Sinaly Diomande will not play again this season after being injured during a four-minute match between the club and OM on 21 November, as he confirmed on social networks on Tuesday evening. The player only had time to touch one ball in two minutes of play, conceding the famous corner that brought the game to a halt seconds later after a bottle was thrown at Dimitri Payet. The 20-year-old was initially diagnosed with a sprained ankle, but then suffered further setbacks.
If the Lyon player thought he would be able to come back with traditional care, after a rest phase, he was finally forced to undergo an operation on his ankle, as shown by his photo published from his hospital bed. In the meantime, he had played 45 minutes in the reserve team in the derby against Lyon – La Duchère (0-0) and one minute in Ligue 1 against Nice (2-0). But his season is well and truly over, as the player will undergo rehabilitation and reathletisation which will take about three months.
