Lazio midfielder Sofian Kiyine has been officially transferred to fellow Serie A side Venezia.
As announced in an official statement last night, the 23-year-old Moroccan midfielder has joined the newly-promoted side on loan, which contains a conditional compulsory purchase clause, linked to sporting results.
Kiyine, 23, signed for Lazio in 2019 from Chievo Verona for a fee of around €1.5m. He was immediately loaned out to Salernitana and made very few appearances for the Biancocelesti during his two-year contract with the club.
Sofian Kiyine, Venezia FC’s newest recruit, was presented on September 2, 2021 in an online press conference.
Sporting director Mattia Collauto introduced him :
“Sofian is a very talented player and I think he can do great things in this category, as he already showed when he was wearing the Chievo shirt. Now he has the opportunity to show himself and the experience he has gained in recent years has certainly helped him mature. Kiyine has the characteristics to play several roles on the pitch, he has football in his head and this season he can prove it.”
The floor was then passed to Kiyine, who chose to wear the number 23 shirt :
“I immediately felt the trust of the club and for me this aspect was fundamental in the decision to come to Venice. I will be at the disposal of the coach, he will decide whether to play me on the right or on the left, my job is to give back the confidence I feel in myself. I saw the games that Venezia played in the championship, we are a young team with many new players, so I am convinced that the break will be useful to create the right amalgam that will be fundamental for the rest of the championship. We are a young team and we have a lot of new players, so I am convinced that the break will help us to create the right team spirit that will be fundamental for the rest of the season. I played there four years ago with Chievo, I was young then and I thought I was ready, but looking back I realise that wasn’t the case. I matured a lot during those years in Serie B and I think I can now face the top division in the best possible way.”
