OL academician defender Jason Denayer was recalled to the national team by Roberto Martinez on Friday.
Jason Denayer, who arrived at the OL this summer, will be back in the Belgian national team. It is part of the group convened on Friday 5 October 2018 by Roberto Martinez, who will face my Switzerland on 12 October and the Netherlands on 16 October 2018. “I am very happy to be called, it was one of my objectives.
Marc Wilmots is obviously under the spell of Jason Denayer. According to the former Devils coach, the defender has enormous qualities.
Regularly lined up in the L’OL team, he is proving to be an interesting solution in the French club’s central defence. When asked by the team, Marc Wilmots acknowledged the qualities of the defender he had selected at the last Euro, played in France.
“Its first quality is its speed,” says the former coach. “He has the power and technique of his own. He can still improve his defensive headwork, but he is not bad at all, he knows how to jump even if he will not be Virgil Dijk because of his height 1m84. For the rest he has everything. This is the new Kompany” he added.
Jason Denayer‘s goal was to return to the national team, which he had not joined since losing to Wales in the quarter-finals of Euro 2016.
