Antwerp winger Manuel Benson (25) is officially a Burnley player and has signed a four-year contract to play under Vincent Kompany.
The 25-year-old right winger is leaving Belgium for the second time in his career, after a loan spell at Zwolle last year.
Manuel Benson is leaving Antwerp after a successful start to the season, including a superb assist for Drita in the Conference League. The 25-year-old right winger, eager to move on in his career and discover new experiences, has joined England and Burnley.
Benson was a member of the JMG Academy in Lierse and quickly became a household name before joining Genk. A less successful episode in his career, but one that allowed him to bounce back to Mouscron and launch his career.
Having arrived at Antwerp in September 2019 from the Limburg club, Manuel Benson has scored eight goals and distilled ten assists in 68 appearances for the Great Old.
“I’m very excited, it’s a new adventure for me. I’ve heard a lot of good things about this club,” Benson told his new club’s website. “I can’t wait to get started and meet my new teammates.”
Kompany described his new signing as a “hard-working player who will help us improve our team, as well as his own game”. Benson is “a one-on-one specialist who is a threat in the final third of the pitch. I have no doubt he will give everything for the club and for his teammates.”
