Egyptian Premier League side Bank Al Ahly have signed left back Issahaku Yakubu on a permanent deal coming from newly-relegated Wadi Degla.
Wadi Degla suffered their first-ever relegation from the Egyptian Premier League after finishing third to last at the end of the 2020/2021 season.
As a result many of their core players are expected to leave, with midfield-duo Mohamed Helal and Ahmed Said (photo on the right) already leaving the club to join Bank Al Ahly.
Yakubu has now followed suit and has now become the club’s third signing this summer.
The Ghanaian defender has signed a three-year deal with Bank Al Ahly, which will keep him at the club until 2024.
The 27-year-old graduate from the JMG Academy in Accra and moved to Degla’s Belgian affiliates Lierse SK in 2014. He spent four years in Europe with Lierse’s U19 and their senior team before signing to another of Degla’s affiliates GS Ergotelis.
His time in Greece was cut short as after just six months he moved to the Egyptian Premier League, where he spent the last two seasons.
Yakubu proved to be a dangerous chance creator from left back having made 12 assists and scored two goals in 82 appearances for Degla.
