Arsenal have stepped up their interest in Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma, according to our British colleagues.
With the departures of Ceballos, Odegaard and possibly Guendouzi this summer, Mikel Arteta is looking to strengthen his midfield options. According to our British colleagues at 90min, Arsenal have stepped up their interest in Yves Bissouma.
The Mali international (who arrived at the club in 2018), who has two years left on his contract with Brighton, is now looking to leave.
After several months of finding his feet when he arrived in the Premier League, Bissouma is now a key player in the Seagulls’ game. His rise to prominence has attracted the attention of several top English clubs.
Although Liverpool and Leicester have also approached Brighton about a possible move for Bissouma, the Gunners are the favourites to secure his signature.
A hectic market at the Emirates Stadium
Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has embarked on a major shake-up at the club. After Dani Ceballos and Martin Odegaard were loaned out, Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira are also said to be on their way out.
These possible sales have accelerated discussions between Arsenal and Brighton in recent days. However, Yves Bissouma would not be the only midfield recruit. The Gunners coach is hoping for another player to complete his team’s midfield. Many names have been linked with the Gunners’ since the start of the transfer window: Denis Zakaria, Ebrima Darboe or Ruben Neves could come and strengthen the London squad.
One last option is possible. That of Manchester United’s Donny van de Beek. The Dutchman has not made the impact he had hoped for at Old Trafford since arriving from Ajax, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has only used him on four occasions in the Premier League.
Van de Beek has been ruled out of the Dutch squad for the Euros due to injury and is having one of the worst seasons of his life. Arsenal have asked United about his situation at the club during the current transfer window.
