Clermont Foot is affected by eighteen cases of Covid-19, eleven of which are among its professional staff. While the next day of Ligue 2 is only scheduled for Saturday 13 March (reception of Amiens at 8pm), the friendly match that Pascal Gastien’s team was supposed to play against Chamalières (N2), this Friday, has been cancelled.
A victory, a second place… and a cluster. The aftermath of Guingamp and its clinging 5-0 victory has given way to a completely different atmosphere at Clermont Foot, which will play on the Covid-19 pitch in the next few days.
The Auvergne-based club has registered a total of 18 cases of Covid-19, 11 of which are among its players. Their identity has not been revealed, but that of Alidu Seidu, who missed out on a 5-0 victory over Brittany on Tuesday, is not in doubt.
Since then, the results of the latest tests have revealed a more developed contamination within the group, the staff and even the administrative personnel. In all, four of Pascal Gastien’s assistants and three club employees were tested.
Training suspended until further notice
As a result, the club will close its offices and suspend training until further notice. Those who tested positive have been placed in isolation for ten days. Further tests will be carried out this Friday.
From a sporting point of view, this event comes at a time when CF63’s next match is only scheduled for Saturday 13 March, against Amiens (8pm). The friendly match scheduled for Friday morning against Chamalières (N2) has obviously been cancelled
