Kévin Zohi has been suspended by RC Strasbourg for disciplinary reasons, according to Les Dernières Nouvelles d’Alsace. The striker was absent from the Strasbourg squad for the reception of Montpellier in the round of 32 of the French Cup (2-0 defeat) and was finally dismissed by Thierry Laurey for an indefinite period.
This is the second time that the Mali international has been sanctioned for similar offences. In September, Zohi was suspended for 24 hours following an altercation with his coach.
The player has been suffering since his signature in Strasbourg, from a lack of confidence from his coach, and from another problem but unfortunately not raised in the press; Zohi has not played at all in his position since the beginning. His nickname at the Academy was “le maitre”, the master of play, a real 10, which we unfortunately don’t see anymore in the French championship. It could be a youthful error or simply frustration and incomprehension at his coach’s choice.
In any case, it is now certain that Zohi will no longer be part of the Strasbourg squad next season, despite the club’s request to extend his contract.
Let’s hope that Zohi will bounce back to a club where the coach will be able to use all his talent, and then we won’t talk about youthful mistakes.
