Zamalek beat Aswan by a comfortable 2-0 margin despite Tarek Hamed’s dismissal early in the second half.
Zamalek XI: Abu-Gabal; Ahmed Eid, Mahmoud Alaa, Mahmoud El-Wensh, Abdel-Shafy; Hamed, Sassi, Obama; Bencharki, Zizo, Mustafa Mohamed.
Although he dominated the early proceedings, Zamalek struggled to make an initial breakthrough against the resilient Aswan back line.
The stalemate was finally broken just before half-time through young striker Mostafa Mohamed.
Just as it looked as if he was looking up for Zamalek, they suffered a setback when Tarek Hamed was shown a second yellow card as they had to finish the match with ten men.
The referee then gave Zamalek another chance to kill off the match by awarding them a penalty, but that chance was squandered by Mahmoud Alaa, whose effort was saved.
Finally, the match was sealed by a solo effort from Ahmed Sayed Zizo (62nd minute), as the match ended 2-0 for the White Knights.
Zamalek move up to 4th place in the draw, with their next game coming up this weekend in Tanta on January 5 at 17:00 local time.
