Monday's match between RC Lens and Quevilly-Rouen in Bollaert (2-0, 8th day of Ligue 2) was tainted by the expulsion of Souleymane Diarra following a second warning at the 88th minute. The Malian midfielder took his second red in as many matches with the Blood and Gold.
Very energetic and voluntary in midfield, the player arrived from Ujpest in August once again paid an awkwardness and some inexperience. His coach Eric Sikora does not blame him:
"Souleymane is a generous person, he is always in the impacts, in the duels, ready to recover the balls. Unfortunately, he takes 4 yellow cards in 2 matches and he will be the target. It is up to him to know how to control himself, but he is a young player. He was very disappointed at the end of the game. He was crying. It proves that he has character. It will surely take 2 or 3 matches suspension but he must be able to channel. Now I prefer to have a player like Souleymane then a player who is hiding. "
Diarra will be automatically suspended for Clermont and may well be punished with a more severe penalty in the disciplinary committee.
